Inspire Europe chief executive Lisa Henning said “common sense had prevailed” after national media reports noted a travel agency recruitment account set up by former model and influencer Katie Price had been taken down.
Henning had led an industry backlash after Price posted a recruitment advert for part-time travel agents at the height of the immediate fallout from the Middle East conflict.
The Sun and the Daily Mail reported the Katie Price Travels Instagram account was no longer visible since the post and negative trade reaction.
Henning said she was delighted “we’ve helped protect our industry from being diluted by those who simply don’t understand it”.
However, she reiterated she was not against new entrants to the sector who joined for “the right reasons”, adding to comments she made in response to agents from InteleTravel who defended their businesses in the wake of the original post, which is understood to have run in association with PlanNet Marketing.
Henning said in a Facebook post: “Delighted to see that common sense has prevailed and that we’ve helped protect our industry from being diluted by those who simply don’t understand it.
“The travel industry is built on expertise, responsibility, and genuine care for clients — not quick wins, ‘side hustles’ or personal brand promotion.
“That said I am absolutely not against those who are new to travel. In fact, I actively encourage anyone who wants to join this industry for the right reasons – to learn, to grow, and to truly look after their clients and this industry.”
Henning added: “As has been highlighted over the past few weeks, being a travel professional means being there in the toughest moments, not just the glossy ones. It’s about duty of care, experience, and doing the job properly.
“This should never be treated as a marketing gimmick or simply an extension of someone’s personal brand – it’s a profession that deserves respect.
“Proud to stand alongside so many incredible agents who continue to uphold the standards our industry is built on.”
